When you wake up in the morning, what will you do if all you have left is what you thanked God for yesterday?
-unknown-
Ugh.
I have let my gratefulness slip for sure lately. If that were to happen, I would be in big trouble. Today, I will reflect on how much I have to be thankful for, and give all the glory to our Lord and Savior.
What are you thankful for today?

The First Day of School went GREAT!!!
The kids had a GREAT first day. They both love their teachers. Always happy to hear.
Both teachers are very anti-bullying, another great thing to hear, as I was bullied, and so was Jon for a period of time, and I know how painful and how long lasting those scars last.
Emily had to make an "About Me" Bag to bring with her today. This is what she wrote on the outside of the bag: (its a song she learned in church and thought it described her well)
"Helpful, loving, loyal, and kind. Always willing to do what is right with a pure heart. Nothing will bother my mind."
She also cut out a quote from Reader's Digest that said " I don't want to get to the end of my life and find that I have lived just the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well."
Here is a pic of Emily AFTER school today:
And here is a picture of my dearest Caleb AFTER school today. (he came home with a bad headache)

First Day as a 5th and 3rd Grader~
Emily and Caleb's first day of school is today. I am always ready for school to start....but in the same sense its always sort of bittersweet, as it also symbolizes that they are another year older. I know now how fast time goes by once those kids get into the school system...
So here is my tribute to my Beebz and my Lubber. I hope your first day is a great experience. I hope you keep a smile on your face, and a song in your heart. May you be a friend to someone who needs it. May you lead by example, and have a positive impact on those around you.
I love you to the moon and back my babies.

Nothing like a case of Poison Oak right before school starts!!
So Emily broke out in what I thought was a heat rash about 2 weeks ago....except it kept spreading. and spreading. and spreading. I took her to the Doctor, and found out she got Poison Oak. School pictures and open house are tonight, and she has safety patrol training tomorrow.... We are skipping the pics until retake day....
It is starting to dry up now, but my Beebz has been a pretty miserable little girl for the last couple of weeks.
I told her that when she's older, she can look back at my blog and remember the time she got poison oak.
I love YOU Emily. You are a trooper!!

Family~
My aunt Linda is in town from Maryland visiting, and me and the kids went over to my mom's house to see her. Wow.......what a LOT OF FUN we had. Just doing nothing but being ridiculous.....The kids were performing, Linda was performing, we were all just goofin off and having a nice time. My aunt Cheryl came by with her grand-daughter, Laura a different day, and again we had a really nice time. It was so nice seeing them. Emily enjoyed spending some time with Laura, working on arts and crafts. My mom made great meals both nights, and all I can say is thank you! Thank you for the good food, mom, and thank you for the good times Linda, Cheryl, Laura, Mom, and Dad!!

What's been goin on
So last night, Jon got bored and decided he needed to clean up all the vines growing on to our deck.
He went into our shed, found this strange looking power cutter thingy and got busy. He, Caleb, and Emily all worked together cutting, raking, and piling the mess onto the 4 wheeler and driving it to the back of our yard and making deposits into our "pile." Now that is something I'll have to get a picture of soon!! It is quite impressive this "pile" of brush we have. It seems every storm we've had this year has caused a lot of damage to our trees, so it just keeps growing, and growing. I'm surprised the city hasn't paid us a visit! :O)
Next week Football starts for Caleb. He is very excited as this is his first year being able to play tackle. He plays hard, and its a great sport for my boy who is has so much natural energy.
Right now, Troy, Emily, Caleb, and Sandy (Troy's mom) are making the drive to Wisconsin to pick up our newest addition, Gabe. I will post pictures of him tomorrow. He is going to hopefully make a fine hunting dog for Troy, and just an all around companion for the family. I must admit I am anxious to meet the lil guy.
Well...have a wonderful day, and enjoy my pictures.

Saying NO
I was reading an excerpt from "The Language of Letting Go" about saying no. How hard it is for some of us to say no when that is what we really want to say. I know I am a people pleaser, and I have sooo much trouble saying no to people. This is something I am going to have to work harder at, because it is OK to say no. It isn't my problem if it hurts someones's feelings. I am responsible for me. So if you struggle in this area, keep reading....I liked this a lot.
Saying No
For many of us, the most difficult word to say is one of the shortest and easiest in the vocabulary: No. Go ahead, say it aloud: No.
No - simple to pronounce, hard to say. We're afraid people won't like us, or we feel guilty. We may believe that a "good" employee, child, parent, spouse, or Christian never says no.
The problem is, if we don't learn to say no, we stop liking ourselves and the people we always try to please. We may even punish others out of resentment.
When do we say no? When no is what we really mean.
When we learn to say no, we stop lying. People can trust us, and we can trust ourselves. All sorts of good things happen when we start saying what we mean.
If we're scared to say no, we can buy some time. We can take a break, rehearse the word, and go back and say no. We don't have to offer long explanations for our decisions.
When we can say no, we can say yes to the good. Our no's and our yes's begin to be taken seriously. We gain control of ourselves. And we learn a secret: "No" isn't really that hard to say.
Today, I will say no if that is what I mean.
