On April 9th, my baby turned 10. Wow. Double digits. A decade. I truly have no more babies, do I? They grow up so fast. Whenever I see expectant moms, my hope is that they relish those first few years, because it seems so often you get caught in the whirlwind of things, and you don't take the time you should to cherish those short few years. I miss the sweet smell of a baby, and the way the giggle, and look at you with such admiration. I miss the little dimples in their fingers where knuckles will one day appear. I miss the soft "butter" hair. But I also enjoy the freedom of no diaper bags, car seats, and midnight wakings. I enjoy watching my children grow, mature, watching their talents unfold.
Caleb is sweet and has a tender heart. He loves to cuddle, and likes to have his arm and back tickled. He sucks his thumb and rubs his ear when he's stressed and tired. He loves baseball, which he starts up again this month if the weather will allow. He is doing well in school, has improved his reading abilities, and excels in music. He has a beautiful singing voice, and I hope to see him doing plays with his sister soon! He is curious, boisterous, loud, loves to clap his hands in a way that is so loud it hurts your ears. He loves his dog Gabe, cries over the loss of his buddy, grandpa Lionel. He is one big package of fun, and I love him very much.
I am anxious to see God's plan for Caleb, and I pray Caleb will listen to that plan and follow what God wants for him.
Happy 10th birthday to the lil man who will always be my baby.
